It’s easy to start exercising, but it’s motivation, determination & consistency that will keep you going and these 3 things are much easier to harness if you know your ‘why’. Ask yourself “why do I want to exercise?” and then sit with that question for a while and truly think about it. It may be because you have a specific aesthetic goal, or because you want to feel happier and healthier, or maybe you’re exercising for your future self so that you’ll be able to run around with grandchildren at 80 years old. Whatever your ‘why’, make it a habit to constantly remind yourself. Write it on a sticky note and put it up on the mirror. Put a daily reminder in your diary or phone. Once you’ve found your purpose for exercising, it will be a lot easier to stay motivated.
2. Commit to an exercise program for at least 4-8 weeks.
It takes 21 days to create a habit, 66 days for your new habit to become automatic and 90 days to make it a part of your lifestyle. Motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing! If you can commit to exercising so long that it becomes a habit - your life will change forever and you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner.
3. Make it fun
Exercise does not have to be boring. As a matter of fact, it should be fun! By nature, humans need variety & change to stay motivated. Not only will you end up getting excited to exercise with a variety of different fitness disciplines, but you’ll also be challenging your body in unique ways and working muscles you never even knew existed! This is exactly why The LEAN Method is changing millions of women’s lives on a daily basis… We incorporate a mix of Pilates, Strength training and HIIT, as well as Cheerleading, Dance & Box Inspired workouts. You’ll never get bored and you’ll be having fun doing our follow along home based workouts!
4. Find your Familia
Life is always better when you share it with others and the same goes for workouts. Find a friend, or an online community of like-minded women to keep you accountable. It’s very easy to hit snooze if it’s just you, but much more difficult to let a friend down. It’s been proven that people who get support from others are 3 times more likely to succeed in their fitness journey because of the daily motivation they receive.
5. Change your perspective
If you are able to move, why would you not? It’s a simple question but we don’t often think about it. There are so many people out there who would love to move their bodies but may not be able to. You are one of the lucky ones who have the opportunity to exercise on a daily basis. Instead of thinking about exercise as a chore, start thinking about it as a gift. Nothing beats the ability to move, and nothing beats those post-workout endorphins!
